About Sittin' Your Kitten
Meet Lisa (and Joe)
Owner Lisa Guthrie has been a lifelong cat-owner and lover and has been an active New Kent homeowner for over 25 years. She recently retired from her full-time nonprofit management work and is now eager to work with furry clients and their people as an expert cat sitter. Lisa lives with her husband Joe and their rescue kitty, Bebop, a 7-year old fluffy ginger. His favorite activity is basking in the sun on the deck and dreaming of catnip treats.
Our Story
Sittin’ Your Kitten and More was created in 2023 when Lisa retired from her full-time job and decided to fulfill her desire to work with her favorite animals – CATS! So she shifted her small business, L. M. Guthrie & Associates, to cat-sitting. She knows from her own two cats that travel can be challenging when your favorite felines would be left at home.
Her indoor-only kitties are shy, sensitive and used to a quiet country life. Taking them to a busy boarding facility can be traumatizing, so in-home kitty care is a must. Recognizing a need for local caregivers, Lisa is bonded and insured and is offering a reasonably-priced service to others so you can have assurance that your favorite felines will be just as cared for when you travel as they are when you are home.

Both animal lovers, Lisa and Joe will enjoy spending time playing with your cats or just offering a friendly lap for snuggling. So, if you’re worried about your cat’s happiness while you’re away, don’t! You’ll see their passion for cats and know you’ve found your cat’s new best friends.
Our compassionate cat care service allows your pet to remain in a familiar, secure environment – your home – while you travel! We will schedule an initial complimentary “Meet and Greet” to gain a clear understanding of your specific needs and to establish trust and confidence with you and your cat. Our visits last approximately 30 minutes each, during which time we will follow your cat’s customary diet and household routine as well as provide personal attention and play time.
